The North Boston Volunteer Fire Company was founded in September of 1904, after a fire destroyed Schunk's Hotel.
Local resident Fred Frank rallied the men of the town to form the first fire company. A small hand cart with a Gould pump mounted on it was the company's first piece of fire apparatus.  The North Boston Fire Company 49 Active Members are lead by
Chief David Bernas and President Donald O'Bryant, is supported by a Ladies Auxiliary.  More about the firefighters on the Roster....

New Firehouse Project

September 10- Kirst Construction Officials and North Boston Steering Committee members are extremely pleased with the progress thus far with the construction of the new home to North Boston's Bravest. The special groundbreaking was held July 11th, and the progress has seen caught the eye of many citizens through the community. The photo at left is how far the progress is through September 19. Charles Dickens coming to Boston on November 8 

May 14-The North Boston Volunteer Fire Company is sponsoring Boston’s Mike Randall as Charles Dickens in a solo performance of “A Christmas Carol” on Saturday, November 8th at the Boston Valley Elementary School.  Show time is 7 PM.  Tickets are $10 each and may be reserved now by calling 649-8570.  With limited seating, this will be a sell out. 2009 Lake Effect Firefighter Ski Race Announced
October 30, 2008
Being a proactive part of the Western New York Community, the North Boston Fire Company continues thier alliance with the Kids Escaping Drugs Campaign for the 11th Annual HoliMont SkiScape/ Lake Effect Firefighters Ski Race on Sunday, January 4, 2009 from 8AM-4PM at the HoliMont ski resort in Ellicottville, NY.
So, mark the date now, and please tell 100 of your closest friends! If you don't have a team of 4, call on neighbors for mutual aid, or register single and we will place you in a team.
What could be more fun then to see four firefighters wearing full protective equipment, on skis, linked together by carrying a 50ft length of 1 3/4" hose through a race course? Fastest Team wins and spills are frequent. (Complete list of rules will be furnished upon registration)

50 Grand Gala a resounding success!
July 15- North Boston Fire Officials declare the First Annual $50 Grand Gala a resounding success. After a rainy morning, the sun came out and heated things up for the start of many more events to come. Over 1,400 people attended the event, witnessing  $148,000 in prizes awarded to lucky winners! Approval from Town Planning Board
May 14- Several North Boston Fire Officials were present for the approval of the new firehouse design from the Town of Boston Planning Board. The next step in the process is to get Town Board approval, which is anticipated for Wednesday May 21st. Check our progress...

 

 

Fire Injures three- one seriously
May 14- North Boston
Fire Broke out in a residence on Ward Road on Tuesday May 13th just after 8pm. Two residents were treated for smoke inhalation, while a third resident was flown by Mercy Flight to ECMC with serious burns and a fractured leg. Details......


 

The Firefighter Newspaper Awards North Boston with Teamwork Award
April 12- Cheektowaga

The Firefighter Newspaper recently announced the North Boston Fire Company was awarded the Excellence Through Teamwork Award for the Winter/Spring Edition for their support of the Kids Escaping Drugs Campaign. The award will be presented on Friday August 8th at America's Fair in Hamburg NY. "Showing a good example is something emergency service providers do naturally, every time they respond to someone's call for help. Members of the North Boston Fire Company have taken this commitment to the next level.."

Erie County Chiefs Mutual Aid Organization Recognize Firefighters
March 29- Hamburg
Congratulations to the following North Boston firefighters recognized recently by the Erie County Fire Chief’s Mutual Aid Organization for outstanding service in their categories: Fire Captain Jack Braun (0-10 years) and Firefighter Sean Crotty (11-20 years). Also receiving Certificates of Merit were Firefighter Tom Kyle (21+ years), Firefighter Paul Schunk (40+ years) and Firefighter Herb Klein (50+ years).

Lake Effect Firefighter Ski Race

The North Boston Fire Company is proud to continue their alliance with the Kids Escaping Drugs Campaign. Over 85 firefighters participated in the 4th Annual Lake Effect Firefighter Ski Race on Sunday January 6th, 2008 at HoliMont Ski Resort. Check out all the details and race results here......



New Fire Station Fund Drive underway


February 19- With the approval of the Boston Town Board, members of the North Boston Fire Company initiated their first fund drive since 1984 in early September. Since then residents of the Fire District received a support packet in the mail, many answering the call.  To date, we have realize 44% of our fundraising goal. Help support our goal today!!
