New engine purchase
approved After more then 28 months of research, investigating and thorough evaluations, members of the New Engine Committee recommended to the North Boston Membership the purchase of the 2006 Toyne/HME Custom Engine. See updated pictures below. Evaluations and viewing apparatus at various fire shows from Pittsburgh to Harrisburg, Syracuse to Buffalo, and many other apparatus that came through the Fire Station for demonstrations, the field of desirable units were sorted. In September 2005, the Final Specifications were completed, put out for bid to Ferrara, R/D Murray/American LaFrance, Seagrave, Crimson, Toyne, among others. Bids were returned and reviewed in October, where the field was narrowed down. In the end, Toyne proved to be the manufacture the committee chose to go with. Below is the drawing for the New Engine 3, who was purchased from Tri-State Fire Apparatus, Brian Kokkila salesman. Scheduled delivery for the unit is June 12, 2006. Check back often for updated pictures. The 2006 HME P2XL Features Toyne's Stainless Steel Body, Cummins ISL 370HP Engine, Allison Transmission, On-spot Tire Chains, Hale Pump and FOAM PRO System, Robinson Roll-up Doors, Multiplexed Electrical System, 24" Front Bumper Extension w/Trash line, Federal Q2B, and 6" Master Intake.
