Lake Effect Firefighter Ski Race Part 3

    In 2004 the North Boston Fire Company celebrated 100 years of service to it's community, members prepared a different way to start off the next 100 years of service to it's community. Recognizing their community as not just the Boston Hills, rather all of Western New York, the North Boston Fire Company forged a relationship with the Kids Escaping Drugs Campaign.
    The Annual Lake Effect Firefighter Ski Race was held in conjunction with the 9th Annual Ski Scape at HoliMont Ski Resort on Sunday February 11, 2007. The Ellicottville NY resort hosted the individual race portion of the Ski Scape, as well as the firemen's race held at the resort. Over 70 firefighters competed for bragging rights to walk away with the First Place Trophy for navigating the race course donned in full turnout gear. The teams consisted of 4 firefighters,  weaving through the gates while stretching a 50ft section of 1 3/4" hose. The first one to the bottom wins!
    After nice weather postponed the 9th Annual Jeep/HoliMont Ski-Scape and 3rd Annual Lake Effect Firefighter Ski Race, it turned out to be well worth the wait.
    Over 350 participants were greeted with beautiful skiing, some fresh snow, and great conditions.
    Teams from 3 New York State Counties, 2 States, and 2 Countries competed for bragging rights to be crowned the Lake Effect Firefighter Champions for the year. Teams from Armor Fire Company, Big Tree Fire Company, Ellicottville Fire Company, Scranton Fire Company, North Warren Fire Company, Alfred Station Fire Company, Milton Fire Company, Hillcrest Fire Company, as well as members from their own fire company tried to knock off the defending champions from the North Boston Fire Company.
    In the end, many smiles and good times were had by all. Below are the results and pictures from the action.

    Money raised from the 9th Annual Ski Scape / Lake Effect Firefighter Ski Race topped $33,800 with all monies going towards the Kids Escaping Drugs Campaign.
