French Fire Chief Visits area

After first contacting Asst. Chief Sean Crotty in March of 2001 off www.northbostonfire.com, Chief Robert Devred from Senas France visited Western New York Friday July 30th. Robert traveled to Western New York while vacationing in the Toronto area, Robert and his family stopped on the way back through from visiting New York City.

Greeting Robert in Hamburg was A/C Crotty and Scranton Fire Captain Russell Dimitroff in the new Scranton Rescue 7. After a tour of Scranton 7, Robert and his family loaded up and traveled to North Boston for a tour of the station, a ride in R7 and a short tour of the Town of Boston.

After the tour through Boston, Devred visited the American LaFrance Manufacturing Facility on Camp Road in Hamburg, stopped in at Mercy Flight, and moved on to see the Erie County Fire Training Academy. Fire Coordinator Jim McCullough showed Robert the state of the art facility, and available resources to Erie County Firefighters. After leaving Cheektowaga, The Devred's were shuttled downtown for a brief stop in Buffalo, his tour terminating at the Edward Cotter Fire Boat.

Robert enjoyed his visit to the Western New York area, and vowed to remain in contact with the North Boston Fire Company.
