Three residents injured in Ward Road Fire
May 14- North Boston NY

Multiple alarms for an unknown type fire were issued at 20:02 hrs May 13th at 6191 Ward Road in the Town of Boston. Moments later the dispatch information was revised to a working structure fire with a person trapped. Since the location bordered the Town of Orchard Park, agencies from both communities converged on the scene.

North Boston 9-2 Gene Wieckowski, the first arriving officer, reported the victim out of the building, and needing medical attention for burns and a fractured leg suffered after jumping from a second story window to escape the flames.

Crews from North Boston E3, E2, R7 and Hillcrest 1 with the support of additional mutual aid companies, made entry after an established water supply of more than 1200 feet was accomplished.

Orchard Park District Chief Dan Neaverath coordinated the evacuation of the burn victim, via Mercy Flight, and Boston Emergency Squad members transported a second resident with smoke inhalation.

The operation, under the command of North Boston Chief David Bernas, utilized mutual aid resources from Patchin, Boston, Hillcrest, Orchard Park, Windom, Newton Abbott, Hamburg, and Armor fire companies. Command was assisted by D-4, D-2 and the Town of Hamburg Emergency Management Office.
